West of My Imagination
2009
In opposition to the more traditional depictions of exteriors, my constructed tableaux comments on expansions of the American West. Rooted from various Spaghetti Westerns as well as significant historical accounts, this body questions the history, myth and culture of the Western Frontier, juxtaposing portentous ideologies of this conquered region. By implementing unorthodox materials the scenes appear obscured from reality, theatrical and are at times humorously dry given the nature of their exaggeration.
