Chris Otten (b. 1984) was raised in Western Oklahoma and is a citizen of the Plains Apache working in fine art photography. His interest in the medium grew after exploring back roads of the Llano Estacado located in the Southern High Plains. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2007. After graduating from the University of South Florida with a Master of Fine Arts in 2011, he has continued making work based on reconnecting to his homeland. Currently, he is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Art Institute of Tampa and St. Petersburg College. Recently, he was recognized for his newest bodies of work, Familiar Stances and Maybe We Will Never Know, that shed light on the plight of the American Indian.
